In response to many teaching fellows' and graduate students' interest in developing ways to integrate technology successfully into their teaching and research, the SITES lab is proud to present a new series of workshops entitled TECH: Technology in English Studies Colloquium Hour.

This semester's inaugural workshop will consider the topic of "Blogging in Academia." The workshop is designed to introduce interested graduate students and faculty members to a range of issues surrounding the use of blogs in both teaching and research. In the course of this discussion we hope to develop a practical and theoretical framework by which to understand the uses of blogs. After a brief hands-on tour of some current blogs, short presentations will be made by Professor Jordynn Jack on blogging feminist theory; Daniel Lupton and Katherine Shrieves on blogging in composition courses; and Erin Branch on blogging in the literature classroom.

Purpose of TECH:

To raise awareness of the uses of technology in scholarship and teaching as they currently exist in the English Department and to promote the integration of new media in an academic environment.
